Hello, I'm Andrea Maher.
I'm a Certified Anger Management Specialist, Certified Parenting Coach, and the founder of That Calm Mom®.
I'm also a wife and mom of three, including twins, so I know firsthand just how loud, messy, overwhelming, and exhausting family life can be.
Over the past several years, I've had the privilege of helping more than 50,000 parents through my courses and building a community of more than one million parents online. Every day, I get messages from parents telling me they've stopped yelling, their homes feel calmer, and they're finally becoming the parent they always wanted to be.
But I didn't get into this work because parenting came naturally to me.
I got into it because it didn't.
All I ever wanted was to be a mom.
I couldn't wait to have kids, so I was completely caught off guard by how hard motherhood felt.
I loved my kids more than anything, but I was overwhelmed.
The constant noise.
The sibling fights.
Being needed all day long.
Trying to get through the day while feeling like I never had a second to think.
Some days, I handled things the way I wanted to.
Other days... I didn't.
I'd lose my patience over things that weren't really about what had just happened.
I'd raise my voice more than I wanted to.
Then I'd lie in bed that night replaying the day in my head, thinking, "Why do I keep doing this?"
I wasn't looking for another parenting trick.
I wanted to understand why I was reacting the way I was.
That question completely changed the direction of my life.
The more I learned about emotional regulation, stress, and behavior, the more I realized something that no one had ever taught me.
My reactions weren't happening because I didn't love my kids enough.
They were happening because I didn't have the skills to stay regulated when I was overwhelmed.
Once I understood that, everything started to change.
Not because my kids suddenly became easier.
They didn't.
They still argued.
They still pushed boundaries.
They still had meltdowns.
The difference was that I stopped expecting myself to magically stay calm and finally learned how to do it.
Why I do this work
That experience led me to become a Certified Anger Management Specialist and Certified Parenting Coach, and I've spent years studying emotional regulation, respectful parenting, child behavior, and what actually helps families create lasting change.
Since then, I've dedicated my career to helping parents learn the skills I wish someone had been taught years ago.
After helping more than 45,000 parents, I've realized something.
Most parents aren't struggling because they don't love their kids enough.
They're struggling because parenting is hard, life is overwhelming, and nobody ever taught them what to do when they're completely flooded with emotion.
We spend years learning how to do our jobs, drive a car, or manage our finances.
But somehow we're expected to know how to stay calm when a child is screaming, refusing to listen, fighting with a sibling, or pushing every button we have.
That's the gap I want to fill.
I don't believe parents need another lecture about being more patient.
I think they need practical skills they can actually use in the moment.
Skills that help them stay in control, respond instead of react, and create the kind of home they've always wanted for their family.
I know those skills work because they changed my life first.
Do I still have hard days?
Of course.
Do I still get overwhelmed sometimes?
Absolutely.
The difference is I'm not stuck there anymore.
I understand what's happening in my brain and body, and I have tools that help me come back much faster.
Hard moments don't turn into hard days the way they used to.
That's exactly what I want for you.
Because I truly believe that when parents learn to regulate themselves, everything else starts to get easier.
Your home feels calmer.
Your relationships get stronger.
And you finally get to enjoy being with your kids instead of feeling like you're just trying to survive the day.
I'm so glad you're here, and I hope I can help you get there, too.
